The Puppy Training Process

Step #1: Initial Consultation

Share your puppy struggles and get the expert instructions you need to start getting relief from the most pressing problems today.

Most puppy problems are very predictable, and the immediate solutions are not skills-based, but information-based.

For this reason, the Consultation is entirely discussion-based as the puppy trainer provides instructions and you ask questions.

Step #2: Coaching Sessions

Follow your Consultation with six coaching sessions to build on initial wins and thoroughly address your questions.

Weekly to bi-weekly sessions combine discussion and hands-on practice as you learn how to:

ease puppy problems
introduce basic obedience
establish good habits for life

Get help between sessions with text and email support.

Roughly 60 minutes each; virtual or in-person.

Socialization is an important but often misunderstood topic.
We give it special attention with a Coaching session at a pet-friendly store or other location appropriate for your puppy.
With real-time feedback from the puppy trainer, you'll learn how to build confidence without compromising manners.

Puppy Socialization Booster Pack

Let the puppy trainer do some socialization for you with a socialization booster pack!

The puppy trainer picks up your puppy from home, takes him to a pet-friendly store for a Socialization Field Trip, then brings him back.
Each Field Trip is 60-90 minutes total depending on your location and your puppy’s age.
Most puppies work on three topics:
1. Exposure to novel objects, smells, sounds, experiences and environments
2. Leash skills
3. Listening around distractions
Puppies do not need to be fully vaccinated to participate, but they do need to be comfortable riding in a vehicle.

Puppy socialization focuses on positive experiences that build good manners and confidence.

“What about puppy vaccines?” Koinonia follows the AVSAB recommendation for safe puppy socialization. Your puppy does not have to be fully vaccinated to participate in this program.

Depending on your puppy’s age and your goals, sessions may involve short trips into the neighborhood to practice leash walking and listening around distractions.
Most programs include one Socialization Field Trip session held at Lowe’s Home Improvement or Academy Sports + Outdoors so you can learn how to cultivate good manners in the real world.
Absolutely! Potty training problems are a real pain, and they don’t magically get better as your puppy gets older so it’s best to get help ASAP if you’re struggling with accidents. Leighann offers a Potty Training Consultation for owners who only need help with potty training.
