Stranger Danger

A Message from Koinonia’s Certified Professional Dog Trainer:

No one dreams of having a dog who isn’t social.

On the contrary, most people want a dog who can enjoy life with them — and whatever guests come through the front door.

If your dog’s hiding, shaking, barking, growling, lunging or snapping has you feeling isolated, and anxious, know that there are solutions.

Peace is possible.

Reactivity vs Stranger Danger

Although these behaviors can look similar, the training goals are often different:

  • On-leash Reactivity: learn to calmly pass the Thing

  • Stranger Danger: learn to interact or share space with the Thing

Despite their differing goals, the initial training looks very similar for both.

How I Can Help You

While I have extensive experience with Reactivity, Stranger Danger is not my specialty.

However, because of the similarities in early treatment, I can help you and your dog take the first steps towards calmer behavior around strangers.

Depending on your dog’s needs and your goals, that may be all you need!

In other cases, a professional with additional expertise may be required.
