Imagine working with a puppy who’s already been to class!
In this 4-week Day Training program, the dog trainer works directly with your puppy to:
quickly introduce basic obedience skills
assist with socialization
work out the kinks for you
Once your puppy is on track, the dog trainer teaches you how to keep him headed in the right direction.
The Puppy Pro Day Training program includes professional puppy socialization done for you.

By letting a professional dog trainer teach both ends of the leash, the Puppy Day Training program makes training your puppy a faster and easier process.
Your Puppy Training Done for You Program includes:
Sessions: Initial Consultation + sixteen sessions (including Socialization Field Trips) + two follow-up sessions
Equipment: treat bag, puppy harness and relaxation rug
Support: text and email the puppy trainer for between-session support
“What about puppy vaccines?”
Koinonia follows the AVSAB recommendation for safe puppy socialization. Your puppy does not have to be fully vaccinated to participate in this program.

Puppy Day Training FAQs

To limit exposure to unknown doggy germs and facilitate a positive socialization experience, Socialization Field Trips occur at stores that are not pet stores and not well-known for being pet-friendly (e.g. Academy Sports + Outdoors, Hobby Lobby, etc.)
Prior to your puppy’s first Field Trip, Leighann will discuss your puppy’s vaccination status, what your vet has recommended, your options for the Field Trips and what each choice offers.
She encourages you to consult the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s position statement on puppy socialization as part of your decision making process.
If you decide to keep your puppy off the ground until the vaccination series is complete, please secure a doggy stroller so your puppy can get the most out of his Field Trips.

Leighann can work with your puppy whether you’re present or away. Sometimes owners take advantage of the Tutoring session to run a quick errand!
Regardless, Tutoring sessions always include a potty break to help your puppy stay on track with housetraining.
If you aren’t home, Leighann will safely confine your puppy and text you when she leaves.

Your weekly Coaching sessions with Leighann are where you’ll learn how to:
practice the basic obedience skills your puppy has been learning
prevent bad manners from becoming a thing
successfully navigate common puppy problems like biting and potty training
raise a puppy without losing your mind
You’ll also get a sneak peek at your puppy’s Tutoring sessions with short video clips. These don’t replace the Coaching sessions, but they can be a helpful reference when you start practicing.

Leighann Hurley founded Koinonia Dogs in 2014 and has been a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in the Austin, TX area since 2019.
She's a problem-solver by nature and loves creating cooperation through conflict-free communication so both ends of the leash enjoy life together.
